Locking Mummy Out Of The House!
Last week I went to work as normal and got a phone call from a strange number which I answered to find Kelly on the other end. She was using next door’s phone as Ben had locked her out of the house!!! She had gone out to feed the cats and Ben went up behind her and closed the conservatory door and turned the keys, locking her out. I rushed home quickly as obviously Ben was left in the house on his own and Kelly was stuck round the back, but he was quite happy sat down watching Cbeebies.
When I got home I tried to get him to take the keys out of the inside of the front door, but he couldn’t. So we were literally both locked out of the house. I had to climb through a garden and over two fences to get into our back yard, where Kelly was freezing by now as it had nearly been an hour by this time. We tried to get Ben to turn the keys in the conservatory door again but he couldn’t and then he started thinking we were playing, so he wouldn’t do anything to help. Just sat and watched Cbeebies, laughing away!
In the end, after trying to take the conservatory doors off their hinges and failing miserably, I had to take a panel off of the conservatory roof and climb in that way. It was lucky I knew one of them was loose and lucky that the shed was open and unlocked so I could get to the tools. It was only a small pane as well, so I had to squeeze through but managed OK and unlocked the door to let Kelly in. I was quite filthy as well which wasn’t great as I was wearing a shirt for work, and I had managed to cut my hands open in several places.
Anyway, we have put in provisions now to not let this happen again, but we were told by our neighbours (who are a police man and a fire man) that this is quite a common occurence. So if you have young children around 2 years old, BEWARE! 😉
