Sports Day 2018
This was Ben’s 2nd KS2 Sports Day, so he was out doing stuff all day again. The weather was dry and sunny, although very hot!
In the morning, Ben played Rounders and did extremely well. He chose to do this rather than football and netball (which he did last year) and showed how good he was by getting a run on each of his goes, apart from just once, when he got caught. He was excellent and much better than the other children. We had played rounders when we went camping at Woodlands, so he had had a bit of practice recently, and they were using a cricket bat instead of a rounders bat, which did make things a lot easier. Ben was also meant to do cross country but it was cancelled due to the extreme heat!
In the afternoon, Ben took part in a relay event where you had to tag the next person and then hold hands with them and run back to get another person and so on until you had all 6 in your team in the opposite bases. Unfortunately, one of the boys on his team tugged him around too quickly and caused him to fall over and hurt his back. He said it hurt a lot and he was nearly crying, which was a shame. Mr Harden (the teacher) went over to sort him out and he ended up sitting out the end of the race.
The next thing he had to do was a standing long jump, which he managed to do OK, and finally the vortex throw, which he did OK in as well. There were lots of other events going on but not all children did all of them. He seemed to enjoy most of it and we had a nice time watching him with Coby (who wasn’t in Bumblebees that day).
