200 Metres Swimming – Done

On Saturday, Ben swam his first 200 metres, which was 8 lengths of the Meadowlands swimming pool. He started off doing front crawl and then backstroke twice, but then realised he could save energy by just doing backstroke. So for the final 4 lengths, he only did backstroke. He made it look easy though and I think he could have gone on and almost got to 400m if he tried, although he did say he was tired when he finished it! Well done though, and he will be having his certificate presented to him at assembly tomorrow. He is also on 95% now, so will be moving up a stage soon I think!

Carol Service

Last night was the KS2 Carol Service at School. Ben was sat right at the back in the middle so we were unable to see him very well unfortunately. The carol service was fine and Ben’s class had to sing one song on their own and then several others with the other classes in KS2 and carols with us in the audience. It was really hot sat in there until Mr Burke opened the fire door. It last about 45 minutes, which seemed a little short, but was nice and Christmassy.

Netball Team

On Wednesday, Ben found out that he had been picked for the school Netball team and will be participating in tournaments in the New Year! Well done Ben! This would be his first school team which is great! As there are so many people in Netball club, they have put together two teams, so that as many children as possibly get a chance to play. Ben is in Team B so he will get some game time at some point. 😉

Argyle vs Oxford Utd

On Saturday, Ben and I went to see the FA Cup 2nd round game between Argyle and Oxford at Home Park. It was the same cheap price as the 1st round game, which is why we went again! 😉 Before the match, Ben bought a scarf with some of his birthday money, so he had something proper to show his support. The game itself was a very good game and we had an excellent view from the Lyndhurst Stand, just off the halfway line. The first half ended 0-0 somehow, although Argyle should have scored a good couple, but they ended up somehow losing 2-1 after a bad 10 minute spell at the start of the 2nd half when Oxford scored both of their goals. We still thought Argyle played really well though! The weather was mostly dry, apart from a very light sprinkling of rain at the end of the game, which was a relief. Ben also didn’t feel sick this time, thank goodness, as after the last game we went home and he was sick everywhere! Phew! Hopefully it won’t be long before we get to go to a game again, but normally the tickets are way too expensive for us, so it may be next season now.

School Christmas Fayre

Last Friday after School was the annual Christmas Fayre. It was heaving in there but the boys had fun and played a few of the games and won a lot of chocolate and sweets and had some candy floss! The best game they did was the Nerf shooting one, which they were all good at. Coby also made a Christmas Card and Ben went off on his own with a friend with his money to spend. Kelly and I were glad when we left though! 😉
