Halloween

The Saturday before Halloween, we went to the annual Woolwell Halloween Party. The boys all dressed up to look as scary as possible and had a great time there, playing with their friends and spending some money on sweets, drinks and little light up toys! They were tired out when the party finished!

On Halloween itself, we again had some of the boys’ friends over for a tea party (with their Mums) so the house was full and there was bedlam! 😉 All of the children were very excited (as normal) and ate a good amount of the party food. A lot of them had after school clubs so had to get changed at our house so by the time I had cycled home from work, there were children everywhere! We had Annie, Harry and Charlie, Hannah, Talia and Ali, Reuben K and Rafe so 11 including Ben, Aaron and Coby as well! They all went out in the pouring rain trick or treating and came back with bucket fulls of sweets! I stayed at home this year to give out sweets to those that came to the door. The boys all had good fun again and will be eating their sweets for weeks to come I think! haha

Diggerland

During half term, Ben, Aaron and Coby all went to Diggerland for the day with Kelly and some of their friends and their families. They all had a great time, as you can see from the below picture! They came home extremely worn out but loved the day. Ben was allowed to go off with Annie and Jake and go on the rides they wanted to go on, as it is a safe enough place and they didn’t want to hang around with the smaller ones! 😉

Caravan in Newquay

The weekend after my birthday, we went down to a caravan at Newquay, at the Trenance Caravan Park. The caravan was owned by one of our neighbours so we knew it was going to be in a good state as we had stayed in one of his before in St Merryn. We didn’t tell the boys until the night before, which obviously got them very excited! We didn’t go down until late on the Friday evening as Aaron had a Halloween Party at Beavers which Kelly was also helping at, so we didn’t get there until past 9pm. It was a nice drive down though and the caravan site was very quiet. Coby was so tired that he fell asleep on the sofa in the caravan and we had to practically carry him to his bed asleep! As the caravan was only a 6 berth one, Aaron and Coby had a small bed in a little room, Ben had a double bed in his own room and Kelly and I slept on our camping air bed in the lounge area. We could have slept on a pull out bed but we decided that we would probably be more comfy on our airbed. We had a decent night’s sleep anyway!

On the Saturday, we had a nice cooked breakfast to start us off before we headed to Mawgan Porth for the rest of the day. The weather was stunning with not a cloud in the sky for most part, but we did go dressed up nice and warm, as it was the middle of October! As the day went on, we got hotter and hotter until we were paddling in the sea when the tide was fully in, as it was boiling! The tide was mostly out when we arrived but was on its way back in, so we managed to go as far into the rockpools as we could before the tide started creeping up on us. As usual when we go there, the boys got wet! Every now and again, a wave would come in and come in much further than usual, which caught us out, but one of the boys always ended up a bit slow and either walked into a deep rockpool, and got water all in the boots, or tried to stand in the small wave, with it ending up going in their wellies. All three of them got soaked to the point that when they took their wellies off, they could pour water out of them! It was funny watching them though! As the tide came in, we gradually started walking back in whilst making sand castles, rock pooling, playing football and making pictures in the sand with the fishing nets. It was good fun, apart from having to dodge the occasional lump of dog poo! Disgusting! Eventually, when the tide was fully in, it was so hot that we had taken our wellies and coats and jumpers off and were paddling. We also got sun burnt as well as didn’t even think to take any sun cream! Doh! We were all tired out by the time we had decided to leave, which was past 4pm, and the beach was still busy with people. But we drove back to the caravan, washed and had some food for tea. We then relaxed in the caravan for the remainder of the evening and played some card games. It had been a brilliant day at the beach and a lovely day in general!

On Sunday, we went in to Newquay to look around. We parked up in the normal car park in the centre of town and then walked from one end to the other, stopping in shops on the way. The weather was amazing again! We had dinner in Wetherspoons, which was lovely and tasty, and also spent some time, and pennies, in the arcade.  The boys earned enough tickets to get a goody bag to share between them which had a selection of sweets and some little toys, so they were happy. We also had an ice cream as well and sat overlooking Towan whilst eating it. We then went back to the caravan late in the afternoon as we had to pack, clean up and then go home. Our neighbour had said that we could stay until 7pm, which was great, as it gave us plenty of time to have a nice day out and then be able to pack without having to rush around too much. Typically though, a family had arrived next to us and their boys asked Ben, Aaron and Coby to play with them just as we were getting ready to go. They did go and play with them whilst we were finishing off but it wasn’t for too long.

We had had a really excellent weekend in the caravan in an amazing location and the weather was awesome. We were very lucky with that! We will definitely be going back to this caravan again in the future.

Parents Evening

Before half term, Ben had his first parents evening in Year 5. We didn’t actually see his main teacher, Mr Burke, as he is also in a lot of Mr Stein’s classes, as they split them up for Maths and English and put them into sets. Mr Stein deals with the higher level of children, which Ben is in. Overall, he said Ben was doing really well but just needed to concentrate a bit more on the comprehension side of things and also said he needs to check his work a little more thoroughly, especially with Maths as he has put the wrong answer to some questions but has got all of the workings out correct. We knew this already though, which was good, so we will keep on at him about it! 😉 But very well done Ben! X

10th Birthday

For his 10th birthday (how is he 10 already?), Ben wanted to go camping, which we did at Perran Sands but the following weekend, he had some friends over to stay and they then went to the cinema on the Saturday to watch Johnny English 3. Kelly took them all and they all thought the film was hilarious! 😉 Ben had bought the first 2 films on dvd with his birthday money, so they watched those on the Friday evening and Saturday morning, so they all knew what had happened previous to the new film. Ben had a great time with his friends and played on the Wii, football outside and ate way too many goodies.  His friends that came this year were Jake, Ollie and Dean. They all had a good time as well and were nice and polite, which was great, although they did wake us up really early as they all went to the toilet, banging around, at just after 6am! 😉

For his actual birthday day, Ben wanted to keep his presents until after School, so he only opened some of his cards before School. I left work early and picked him up from School so we got home a good time and Ben opened his presents. He was very happy with them all. Some of his presents were Minecraft for the Wii U, some new clothes, some Harry Potter Lego Brickheadz, a Harry Potter hoody, a new fitness watch (as he had lost his other one in Scotland), some Harry Potter Lego Dimensions, a football book, Vue cinema vouchers, a new football, Amazon vouchers and a few other things inc money. They were all great presents so thanks to all that gave him something!

For tea, Grandma came over as well and we had party nibbles. We all ate too much but enjoyed the selection.

Ben had a lovely birthday and sleepover with his friends but we just can’t believe he is now into double figures for his age!!!
