Last School Swimming Lesson

Yesterday, Ben had his last school swimming lesson. That term has gone quick! Instead of doing some proper lessons, they were allowed to play on the water slide and the floats there, so Ben really enjoyed it. He did come home with an awful rash on his stomach though which made him cry quite a lot. I know what that is like from my time bodyboarding! It is hard to imagine that yesterday’s lesson was the last one he will ever do in primary school – scary! He is still doing his swimming lessons outside of school though, and is doing very well and has nearly completed level 4 now! 😉

Parents Evening

On the same day as the music festival, Ben had parents evening. We weren’t sure what to expect really as we had heard conflicting stories about his teacher and some issues that they have in class, e.g. if anyone gets their spellings wrong, they all miss their play time. Other parents have also said that they aren’t sure about him as a teacher and how he goes about things, but when we saw him, he said that Ben was doing really well, which was a relief.  He is the only one in his class that has got 10/10 for his spellings every week so far, which is great, but he did have an issue with a Maths test that they did last week. Ben got 16 right when the class average was just over 20, so he was a little concerned as to why he got a low mark when in his normal maths lessons, he is doing really well and he knows that Ben can do it all. He said he will go through it with Ben again as it was probably Ben rushing it and not checking the answers correctly, which is what Ben does at home with homework! Apart from that, he said Ben’s reading age was higher than his actual age, which is great, as we all know that Ben enjoys reading, and his literacy/writing is very good, apart from he needs to work a bit more on his handwriting (he does tend to rush this as well), but from his books, we could see that he is gradually getting better. All in all, it was a positive meeting with his teacher so we are very pleased with him. Well done Ben, keep it up! x

School Music Festival

Last Wednesday was the school music festival. During the hour that we attended, Ben had to play the Ocarina and Recorder. He played the Ocarina in his school club that he goes to and did very well. I don’t think either Kelly or I have heard anyone play the Ocarina before, so it was interesting. Ben did very well playing this!

He then had to play the Recorder with his entire class (3H) along with his teacher Mr Harden. This sounded more like wailing cats! (hahaha) but Ben, and the rest of his class, did their best and played several songs.

4th Tooth Out

Ben’s final front tooth came out this morning on the way to School. It had been loose for the past few days, to such an extent that we were actually worried it would fall out in his sleep and that he would swallow it! Luckily, that didn’t happen and it fell out whilst he was awake!

3rd Tooth Out

Last Friday, Ben’s third tooth fell out…well…more like he pulled it out! It is one of his front teeth at the top and it now makes him look like a right thug! hahaha He put it under his pillow that night and the tooth fairy came straight away and left £1 for him. Lucky boy!
