On the same day as the music festival, Ben had parents evening. We weren’t sure what to expect really as we had heard conflicting stories about his teacher and some issues that they have in class, e.g. if anyone gets their spellings wrong, they all miss their play time. Other parents have also said that they aren’t sure about him as a teacher and how he goes about things, but when we saw him, he said that Ben was doing really well, which was a relief. He is the only one in his class that has got 10/10 for his spellings every week so far, which is great, but he did have an issue with a Maths test that they did last week. Ben got 16 right when the class average was just over 20, so he was a little concerned as to why he got a low mark when in his normal maths lessons, he is doing really well and he knows that Ben can do it all. He said he will go through it with Ben again as it was probably Ben rushing it and not checking the answers correctly, which is what Ben does at home with homework! Apart from that, he said Ben’s reading age was higher than his actual age, which is great, as we all know that Ben enjoys reading, and his literacy/writing is very good, apart from he needs to work a bit more on his handwriting (he does tend to rush this as well), but from his books, we could see that he is gradually getting better. All in all, it was a positive meeting with his teacher so we are very pleased with him. Well done Ben, keep it up! x
