Back to Swimming for 1 Week

The Meadowlands swimming pool finally opened last week, so Ben managed to go again, but it has now been taken over by another company, so there were issues finding the details of his current swimming level so they couldn’t really test him on anything during the lesson. It was also on this week, but he was unable to go due to his Carol Service at School, and next week is the Christmas holidays and we will be out. The following two weeks, the pool is closed for lessons again (over Christmas and New Year bank holidays), so it will be the second week in January when he starts up properly again. Hopefully it will only be a few weeks until he completes his current level!

Merit Awards

Since the start of term, Ben has managed to get his Silver and Gold merit awards.  I think this is the 3rd or 4th time he has got them now, as when they reach the highest, which is the Headmaster’s Award, they start again from Bronze and work their way back up. Well done Ben!

1st School Christmas Carol Service

As Ben is now in KS2, he doesn’t do a Christmas Nativity anymore, but a Carol Service instead. It is a bit of a shame in a way, but I guess they do the same show every year for 3 years, so they want to mix it up a bit for the children and parents.

So last Monday evening, Kelly and I went to see it and were lucky enough to get on the front row and directly in front of Ben. He was so close that we could have reached out and touched him! haha So we ended up making him quite embarrassed as Kelly was filming him singing! The Carol Service was very good actually and basically told the Christmas story but in a more musical and older way. Even the parents in attendance had to stand and sing some carols. It was good fun really and we enjoyed it, and so did Ben.

Halloween

We did two things for Halloween this year. The first was on the Saturday before Halloween when we went up to the Woolwell Centre for their annual Halloween party. We went with some of the other football parents, so the Ben and the other two had friends to play with. Ben dressed up as normal and looked really good (he also had had a party during the day, where he dressed up as Harry Potter (see pics below)) and spent most of the evening in the games rooms on the bouncy castle.  However, he did enter the best dressed boy competition and won! That owed a lot to Kelly’s make-up skills though!

On the Monday, which was Halloween itself, we had a little Halloween tea party with some of the boys friends. Kelly and Coby had spent the day decorating the house to make it look all spooky and did a great job!  All the boys dressed up ready for the others to arrive, and there were snacks and drinks for everyone. We all then went out trick or treating and ended up covering most of Woolwell it seemed, as we were out for about 90 mins, if not more! It was a nice, dry and mild evening as well, so perfect weather for it!  Ben got stacks and stacks of sweets and chocolates, so he was very happy.  Ben and everyone else had a great time of it! 😉

Flu Vaccination

Ben had his flu vaccination spray up his nose the other day at school and didn’t mind it at all! I was quite surprised at this really as I don’t like anything like that going up my nose, but well done Ben.
