Ben's Blog

Ben had his 3rd and final nativity play at School last week and this year he was a King.  He had to sing songs with the other classes but he was also a narrator so he had a couple of lines to say, which were quite long really.  He did really well saying them and was very clear and loud.

We can’t quite believe that this was his last nativity play either as next year he will be part of the School Carol Service instead, which will be good, but it’s a shame that that is it for nativity plays for him. ;-(

When we went to the Christmas opening night at Endsleigh Garden Centre a few weeks ago, Radio Plymouth were there doing a show and taking pics of people to put on their website.  They saw the boys and choose them and gave them each a flag with Radio Plymouth written on it which they waved and had their picture taken.  Here is the pic that ended up on their website.

Ben got an accelerated reader certificate at school the other week due to him doing really well at reading and correctly answering questions about each book.  He is a very good reader and has started reading proper chapter books now, such as Horrid Henry, so it shouldn’t be long until he reaches the next level of this. Well done Ben!

A few weeks ago, Ben was invited to an Ice Skating party.  He had never done it before but enjoyed it a lot. Mummy had to go as well though as each child needed an adult on the rink with them. They both enjoyed it at the Pavilions but the only trouble was that the skates weren’t very good.  They were damp and smelly and they gave Ben the wrong skates to begin with which rubbed his legs quite raw, which we had to complain about (and got another free visit out of it) and took weeks for it to heal. But that didn’t stop his enthusiasm and he has been invited to another party just before New Year which he is looking forward to (and so is Mummy).

Unfortunately, after suffering from a massive stroke in June, Grandpa Tony passed away last week.  When we told Ben he was quite upset he buried his head in a cushion, but he soon got over it thank goodness.  He was quite quiet over the next few days though, obviously thinking about it, but he is back to normal now. Ben had some good fun with Grandpa Tony, listening to him play his guitar when he was a baby, drawing mustaches on faces in newspapers and making paper aeroplanes, and he will never forget him.
