New Bike

Here are a couple of pics of Ben on his new bike that he had for his birthday. Unfortunately, due to the weather and other unforeseen circumstances, we haven’t been able to go far on it yet, but hopefully this will change in the New Year.

7th Birthday

For Ben’s birthday this year, he wanted to have a Pirate Party so we hired out the Roborough Village Hall again and got a lady to do a Pirate show. She was really good as well and all the children really enjoyed themselves.  We held the party on the following Saturday afternoon as Ben’s birthday was on a week day again which made things a little easier.  She played several games and even got some of the adults to join in and help with the activities.  It was really good and well worth it.

On his actual birthday, we all got up and got ready quickly so Ben could open a present or two. In the end, he opened all of his presents which included a brand new Innotab Max tablet, clothes, plenty of Lego, several other things and a new bike with gears from Gramps.  He was very happy with all of his presents so thanks to everyone who gave him something! 😉 For tea that night, Ben chose to go to Pizza Hut, so we had a really nice meal there and ate too much pizza and salad!!

Here are some pics of his birthday.

Football Training

A few weeks ago now, Ben and Aaron started going to football training on a Friday evening at Goals next to Home Park. It came about when one of Ben’s friends had a birthday party there and the guy who was doing the training part of the party asked if they wanted to do a proper training session each week. All the children wanted to do this, so it started a couple of weeks later on the 18th September and Aaron was invited to do it as well. The coach is actually the son of the owner of Goals as well and is only in his late teens but looks to be doing a coaching course so this would of course help him out as well.

So the boys have been going for about 4 weeks now and are mostly enjoying it! Aaron has shed a few tears as the other boys are bigger than him and he is ‘too tired’ to run around after a long week at school, but he has generally enjoyed it and has been in goal and has even been the Manager’s Assistant (the Coach – Nathan) which made him happy! 😉 Ben has also had a couple of moments when he has been unhappy but he has generally enjoyed it as well.  I must say it does get very competitive though when they play their training matches! 😉

Here are some pics of their 1st training session.

Karate Red Belt Ninja!

Last Sunday, Ben was put in for grading for his next Karate belt which was his red belt. He did really well and completed the Kata with no real problems, even though it was heaving in the dojo and hardly any space for everyone, and was awarded his red belt. Well done Ben, you are doing really well so keep it up and you will soon be a Ninja! 😉

Bullied

Unfortunately, since Ben has been back at school, he has started to be bullied by two boys called Keanu and Aleks to the point where he has burst out crying in front of Kelly and has been quite upset about it at home. We have obviously not been happy about this and have seen both Ben’s teacher and the Head Master who have apologised and said they would get to the bottom of it immediately. The day after the initial bullying was fine as the two boys were kept in (the bullying was taking place on the playground) but the next day, when they were let out again, they started hitting and slapping Ben again and actually got him over and dragged him through some mud! He was completely lagged (which is when Kelly went straight to the Head Master). Since then, there has been an incident where one of the boys was spotted trying to antagonise Ben, but the teacher got to him in time and sent him indoors. Fingers crossed, it has all gone quiet now and it has been sorted. We are very proud of Ben for not retaliating, as with his Karate training, he probably could have knocked them for six if he wanted to! I did mention it to his Karate Sensei the other night, so he has given Ben some advice and has also said he will do a reminder session about using Karate specifically for self-defence, which I thought was good of him.
