Here is a pic of Ben getting his certificates at assembly in school for a Cross Country event and his School Values afternoon at the Life Centre. 😉
The week before last, Ben had a Netball tournament for school. It was held at Heles School in Plympton from 15:00 to 17:00. He is now Captain of the team!!
They did extremely well but somehow ended up runners up even though they won 4 out of 5 games and drew 1-1 with the school that won. Apparently, Plymstock School, who won it, had scored more goals than Bickleigh, but the teachers weren’t convinced about this! Ben scored 2 goals in one game as well to help them win it 2-0 and actually had an opposing team’s parent go up to Kelly and ask if he was her boy and that he was a very good player! Awesome! Annoyingly, they had to rotate the team each game using pre-planned subs but Miss Ingram (the Netball teacher) said Ben would have played every game if he was allowed to and that now that he had scored 1 goal, he wouldn’t miss! It sounds like Ben is the best player, which is pretty good, considering he only started playing Netball a year ago.
There will be more Netball tournaments in the New Year so hopefully Ben can keep it up and do well!
Ben has now finished Stage 7 swimming, so we have said he can stop having swimming lessons now as he can swim strongly and confidently. Typically though, we have had to give 1 month’s notice to cancel his membership, so they have made us pay for another month! We tried to complain but didn’t get anywhere so Ben is still going until Christmas and luckily, his teacher has started to teach him some stage 8 stuff, even though he is still going in the stage 7 slot on a Friday at 16:30. Anyway, Ben is an excellent swimmer now and we have no concerns about him when he is left on his own in a swimming pool, although we will still keep an eye on him in the sea!
