Halloween Party

The Saturday before Halloween we all went up to the Woolwell Centre for  Halloween party.  Ben and Aaron both dressed up for the night and had a great time dancing, eating sweets and playing on a bouncy castle.  We stayed there for about 4 hours in the end and it was really good and we will definitely go again next year!

On Halloween itself, Kelly took the boys out Trick or Treating with one of Ben’s friends and his Mum and Sister.  They went around the local area and came back with loads and loads of sweets – a massive haul of them!  Unfortunately it was pouring with rain and quite windy so they got a bit wet, but they all enjoyed it.

Here are some photographs of the boys in their Halloween costumes. 😉

Children In Need

During the week leading up to Children in Need, Ben and the other children in his class were asked to wear spotty clothing each day and get sponsored for wearing it. We managed to get several people in the family to sponsor him and he wore his special Pudsey long-sleeved t-shirt each day he was in. This ended up only being for half the week as he was ill for the first couple of days. Thanks to everyone who sponsored him and here is a photograph of Ben wearing his Pudsey Children In Need top.

Glue Ear

Ben went to have his hearing checked again towards the end of November and it was found that he now has ‘glue ear’ in both of his ears. He did have a bit of a cold at the time which may have contributed to this and the audiologist didn’t seem particularly worried as a lot of young children have this condition and then grow out of it.  However, she did refer him to an ENM specialist at Derriford Hospital and he confirmed that it wasn’t too bad and no need to worry about it at the moment. Ben does have to go back in a few months for a check just to make sure it isn’t getting worse, but hopefully it will be OK!

Here is some info about Glue Ear – http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Glue-ear/Pages/Introduction.aspx

Ben Meets Father Christmas

Yesterday we took Ben and Aaron to Trago Mills to go on the Santa Express to see Father Christmas.  We boarded the train and we were taken to Santa’s Grotto after about 5-10 minutes journey time, which was out amongst the woods beside Trago.  When we got there we heard Father Christmas say ‘Ho Ho Ho’, at which point Ben got very excited and started jumping up and down with a huge grin on his face!  The grotto was all decorated with lovely bright Christmas lights and miniature houses etc and so we went in (guided by an Elf) to find Father Christmas all ready to meet the children.  All the children went up to the front and he asked them individually what they wanted.  When he asked Ben, he said ‘Doggy Doo’ to which Father Christmas replied ‘I will have to look that up’.  After he had spoken to them for a bit, each child went up and got a present (do did Aaron) and we managed to take a picture of Ben and Father Christmas on the way back on to the train.
