Tavy 7 Fun Run 2019

At the end of October, we all took part in the Tavy 7 race on Dartmoor. I ran the full 7 mile race, Ben and Aaron did a 1.78 mile fun run and Coby and Kelly did a 0.8 mile fun run.  We all completed the course and got a medal, except for Kelly as she was just accompanying Coby as he was too young to compete on his own, which was a shame really. The boys enjoyed it and had fun and were even more happy to get some cake and a drink (a cup of tea in Coby’s case!) after their races whilst they were waiting for me to finish.  All of the boys took their medals into school to be presented with them during assembly.

School Games Values Afternoon

A few weeks ago, Ben was chosen to take part in a sports session at the Life Centre. Only 5 people were chosen to take part so we were very proud that Ben was one of them. It was for an afternoon only, but involved learning how to coach and then attempting to coach some of the people there. It sounded like an interesting afternoon and he said he enjoyed it and he got a nice certificate as well.

1st Goal For Plymouth Kolts and New Kit

A few games ago, Ben scored his first goal for Plymouth Kolts against Saltash. It was a good goal as well as he ran down the left wing and got into the box and took a shot which the goalie saved, but he then followed up on his left foot to squeeze it into the goal. He was extremely pleased and his team mates all jumped on him. Unfortunately, they went on to lose the match in the final minute in the rain and I didn’t get a proper view of the goal as I was down the other side of the field being the linesman, which was typical!

The team were also given their brand new away kit which is very nice. They had a team photo taken of them wearing it before another home match and they all looked good in it, apart from some looked quite grumpy! haha

Ben also got his Plymouth Kolts rain jacket, which looks great!

11th Birthday

Ben’s birthday this year was a much quieter affair which didn’t really go to plan at all, unfortunately.

He was away on a school residential trip on his actual birthday, so we didn’t see him on the day and therefore he didn’t get his cards and presents on his actual birthday. He did manage to call us in the evening though, so we were able to wish him a happy birthday at least. We had to wait until he came back on the Friday (his birthday was on a Tuesday this year) before we could start the celebrations.  I had a half day at work so Kelly picked him up from school and they then came and picked me up from work, before we headed to the Toby Carvery for dinner.  We had a nice meal there and Ben scoffed loads but couldn’t eat everything as he had piled his plate up high! He was also tired out from his week away and all the activities that he got up to.  After we had picked the other two up from school, Ben was able to open his cards and presents.  He got a lot of nice things including a Meccano set and the new Everton kit with his name and age on the back. He was very happy with everything!  We did party food for tea as well, so everyone was happy with that.

On the Saturday, we had bought tickets to go to the Circus Extreme in Plymouth after lunch and after Ben’s football match (where he scored his first goal!). Unfortunately, this is where it all went wrong as there was literally nowhere to park at Central Park and we spent a good half an hour going around in circles, hoping to find a space, but we couldn’t.  So I had to let them out of the car and go home again – missing the show and missing Ben’s birthday day out.  The boys enjoyed the circus though but it kind of ruined everything so was a massive disappointment. Hopefully his birthday will turn out better next year!

Parents Evening

Parents evening went well for Ben as his teacher, Mrs Rundell (not his class teacher Miss Ingram) said that he was doing well in Maths and English.  She was very happy with his progress so far in Year 6 but she was hoping for even more from him. He has got better in Maths as well, which is great, and has a good understanding of English.  Well done Ben!
