Footgolf with Plymouth Kolts

Last Saturday afternoon, the entire Plymouth Kolts team went and played Footgolf at the American Golf Centre in Plymouth. There was no game at the weekend so they had a team bonding session instead!

The weather was glorious – sunny and hot – so was perfect for them all! Ben had a great time and was the winner in his group of boys but he was sweating when he had finished! He also managed to get a full sugar coke out of the coach (but will pay him back at training!).  They played for about 2 hours and had great fun. Signing for Plymouth Kolts is turning out to be an excellent decision!

Cross Country Team

Last Friday, Ben trialled for the Year 6 school cross country team and got in! Awesome! It means he now has to go to several events during school time which means Kelly will have to drive him around as the school don’t have a mini bus and not all of the children can fit in with the teachers in their cars. Hopefully he will do well and bring back some medals!

1st Plymouth Kolts League Game

Ben’s first ever league game for Plymouth Kolts went very well as they won 2-1 against Activate Youth. They were 1-0 down in the first half before coming back in the second, with Activate also missing a penalty.  Ben played the entire game with the 1st half being in central midfield but for the 2nd half he was moved upfront and should have scored several goals as he was through on goal lots of times but was just unable to score. Marcus, our coach, messaged me after the game to say he would have given Ben man of the match and was so desperate for him to score! This was great for Ben’s first game and he was very pleased to be told so hopefully this will increase his confidence even more!

We were meant to play the game at Sir John Hunt, where the training pitch is, but when we turned up, we found that the site had been vandalised due to some people driving a digger into the fence near the football pitch and so damaging it. Apparently this was a health and safety issue, even though the pitch was fine, so we had to relocate to Widewell School. This meant that some of the team didn’t turn up on time and luckily, Activate were all told when they got to Sir John Hunt. Hopefully, the pitch will be fine again for the next match at the end of the month.

Grandma came as well to watch Ben and she was very impressed with how he played as he never stopped running, tackling and trying to score!

Well done Ben for your first proper game with Plymouth Kolts!

Year 6

Yesterday was Ben’s first day back to school in year 6, so his last first day of primary school! He was quite excited to go and had been looking forward to it for a few days! He wanted to get in quick as well so he could get a good seat in the class and managed to get one that he was happy with. We can’t believe it’s his last year in primary school and bet it will go really quickly. This time next year, we will be sending him off to school on a bus!!! Crazy!
