Ben’s first ever league game for Plymouth Kolts went very well as they won 2-1 against Activate Youth. They were 1-0 down in the first half before coming back in the second, with Activate also missing a penalty. Ben played the entire game with the 1st half being in central midfield but for the 2nd half he was moved upfront and should have scored several goals as he was through on goal lots of times but was just unable to score. Marcus, our coach, messaged me after the game to say he would have given Ben man of the match and was so desperate for him to score! This was great for Ben’s first game and he was very pleased to be told so hopefully this will increase his confidence even more!
We were meant to play the game at Sir John Hunt, where the training pitch is, but when we turned up, we found that the site had been vandalised due to some people driving a digger into the fence near the football pitch and so damaging it. Apparently this was a health and safety issue, even though the pitch was fine, so we had to relocate to Widewell School. This meant that some of the team didn’t turn up on time and luckily, Activate were all told when they got to Sir John Hunt. Hopefully, the pitch will be fine again for the next match at the end of the month.
Grandma came as well to watch Ben and she was very impressed with how he played as he never stopped running, tackling and trying to score!
Well done Ben for your first proper game with Plymouth Kolts!
