Karate Blue Belt
Last Saturday, Ben had his grading for his next Karate belt, which was the blue belt (5th Kyu). He was very nervous this time for some reason and had a few fits of crying, even for the training seminar before the grading started. One of the Sensei’s ended up going over to him and getting him up to do the lesson and once he was up and doing it, he was fine again.
The grading was actually a bit of a doddle for Ben as he passed really easily. He knew the latest Kata easily but it was the older ones that were more awkward as they don’t practice them in the classes hardly at all. Once you have completed a grading, it seems you are expected to remember each Kata from each colour belt! Anyway, Ben was very happy in the end that he passed and got his blue belt, but he is unsure whether he wants to continue or not with the Karate now, so we have left it up to him to decide what he wants to do. He enjoys it really, but his excuse is that he wants more free time to stay at home and play! 😉 He will have a shock when he is older! To reward him, he had a small box of Celebrations and we picked up a Kentucky Fried Chicken on the way home (Ben’s choice!). Well done, Ben!
